Automatic and sustainable fresh produce packaging with Piranha

Piranha is an automatic closing machine for cardboard containers and represents an innovative solution for the sustainable packaging of fruit and vegetables. It was developed by GNA, a company located in Ozzano dell'Emilia (Bologna).

"Corrugated cardboard represents an alternative to plastic, an issue that has become of primary importance once again after the pandemic. The closing technology employed by our machine is suitable for automatic closing systems. Piranha is sturdy just like the jaw of the fish with the same name - its frame is in fact made of varnished iron and aluminum."

The machine can be added to any processing line and, after being filled, corrugated cardboard food containers are closed by a dynamic punching system.

Piranha is composed of three main groups - the punnet feeder, a system of guides to fold the upper cardboard flaps and the dynamic punching group.

"Its main technical characteristics include a maximum speed of 80 packets per minute and the fact that it can be obtained for punnets between 70x70x40 cm and 300x250x200 cm."

The importance of meeting client demand
"The experience gained over many years in direct contact with the clientele has taught us that it is essential to promptly meet demands. Even in difficult times such as these ones, we need to provide qualified and professional advice and an efficient pre and after-sales service with customized solutions that can meet all kinds of needs."

"We had ongoing projects with Russia we were hoping to conclude within the year as well as in other Eastern European countries, though not directly in Ukraine. Everything is now on stand-by. The economic consequences will be serious, not to mention the humanitarian catastrophe that could and should have been avoided. After the pandemic, we now have to deal with new and more serious challenges."
