ASF Edition will plant around 1,500 hectares of peaches, nectarines and apricots before 2027, under the Regal'in brand

Ondine flat nectarine planted in Chile for the first time

This is the first year in which varieties from the Ondine flat nectarine program are being planted in Chile.

"In general, there is great interest in these varieties, and although the plantations are still young, some of them have already started producing," says Aurélie Ferrieux, Executive Director of ASF Edition.

Agro Séléctions Fruits, an internationally-recognized French breeding company, has three brands of round fruit, flat fruit and apples under the umbrella of the company ASF Edition: Regal'in, Ondine and Candine.

"These brands are leaders in the market for their excellent taste and attractive presentation in terms of size, color and shape. And they are also very competitive from an agronomic point of view in terms of production, yield and shelf life," says Aurélie Ferrieux.

"All these advantages have given both international and Chilean operators the opportunity to integrate these brands into their markets. In fact, since 2016, 6 exporting companies in Chile have been accredited to market Agro Séléctions Fruits varieties," she says.

In the case of round fruit, almost 500 hectares of peaches, nectarines and apricots have already been planted in Chile, with a commitment for 1,500 hectares to be planted before 2027, all of them marketed under Regal'in's marketing policy.

From the entire range of varieties evaluated, Chileans have mostly opted for yellow and white-fleshed nectarines, as they are the ones that best meet the taste profile of the target market: China.

"This year, the Nectarruby variety has stood out for its excellent production results, as well as for its large size, taste quality and shelf life," says Aurélie Ferrieux.

Regarding the Candine apple, its commercial development is being evaluated in different production areas of Chile.

"ASF Edition is closely looking at the challenges of today's society in order to adapt to each market's requirements and demands. The goal is to offer differentiated products with a consistent presentation, long shelf life, semi-sweet flavor and good productivity," says Aurélie.
