Emergency crews rushed to blaze at Alberta mushroom farm

Emergency crews have rushed towards the scene of a large fire at a big commercial building at a mushroom farm outside Crossfield on Sunday afternoon.

The fire at the Highline Mushrooms facility north of Airdrie was reported to emergency crews around 1:30 p.m. and fire departments from Rocky View County, Crossfield, Carstairs and Airdrie responded to the scene alongside EMS and RCMP. Crossfield is about 50 kilometres north of Calgary. Rocky View County district fire Chief Dax Huba said the farm’s main operating facility was still on fire after 3 p.m., as crews were unable to extinguish the blaze.

Huba said the mushroom plant’s safety officer said all workers were accounted for and were evacuated. No injuries were reported.
