The Kenyan government has announced it has struck a deal with Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) to start sourcing the produce locally. Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya said very soon KFC will start sourcing potatoes locally. Munya said the production of potato variety that is preferred by KFC will end importation on the produce.
He added there was a lengthy discussion with KFC on why they were not sourcing their potatoes locally, yet there was a surplus in the country. “We met and told them to tell us what variety they want and since it is available, we will make arrangements for seed multiplication so that by June they will be sourcing potatoes from us," Munya said.
