In the Netherlands, Eric van Bergem recently sold two of his companies, EvB Handelsonderneming and EvB Logistiek. However, says Eric, he is not leaving the fruit and vegetable world. "I'm glad I could sell the two businesses. I have no further involvement with them. And I wish the new owner the best of luck for the future," he says.
"Trading has changed significantly over the years. In the last two years alone, it's changed at top speed." Eric should know; he has been in the business since he was 16. He's seen the sector shift and adjust several times. "It teaches you how to shift gears. Sometimes, you need to switch up quickly, sometimes down-size in between. Now, in 2022, it's time for the final phase. I'll keep trading under the name EvB International," Eric explains.
"For example, Dutch onions trade to Spain is steadily continuing. I also export celeriac and winter carrots to the Greek market. And I very regularly supply the Caribbean with the required vitamins. These are all reliable customers with whom I've built strong relationships in recent years."
"We get along great. I have a large network and client base and consistent trade quality. I also have a no-nonsense attitude. So, any problems are always solved to everyone's satisfaction. I, therefore, look forward to a bright future," Eric concludes.
