Dispute about Iranian apples

Kashmir Traders Alliance supports demands of the Fruit Growers Association

The President of the Kashmir Traders Alliance said that while the federal government favors and advocates the Make in India and Atam Nirbam Bharat programs, the presence of Iranian apples makes its efforts somewhat questionable.

Describing horticulture industry as a lifeline for economy in Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir Trade Alliance president Ajaz Shahdhar urged the region’s administration to take practical steps to save the sector and growers.

In a statement issued to media, Shahdhar, while announcing his support for the demands of the Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers and Dealers Association, President Bashir Ahmed Bashir said that the business community is behind them. President Shahdhar said that while the central government favors and advocates for Make in India and Atam Nirbam Bharat, the presence of Iranian Apples are a question mark on their initiatives.
