January apple tracker reports storage down just over 4 percent from 2021

According to the USAppleTracker, the total number of apples in storage on January 1, 2022, was 126.5 million bushels, 4.1 percent less than last January’s total of 131.9 million bushels and 8.6 percent below the 5-year average for that date.

Fresh apple holdings this January, totaled 87.8 million bushels, 2.7 percent less than the inventories reported for last January. Processing holdings totaled 38.7 million bushels, 7 percent less than last year on January 1. 

This report captures more than 95 percent of the national storage capacity. The US Apple Association thanks all the participants and welcomes suggestions and comments about improving the report.
