Data from the Central Statistical Office indicates that the total value of agricultural output in Hungary rose by 13% in 2021. While the volume of production went down by 2.3% compared to 2020, the prices rose by 16%. The volume of horticultural products by 3.7% and the volume of potatoes by 18%.
The quantity of other crop products remained unchanged. The quantity of fruits grew by 10%, first of all due to good apple harvest results. Spring frosts made it difficult to produce apricot, peach and nectarine. The quantity of grapes was unchanged compared to the previous year.
Consumption remains unchanged, prices rising
The volume of intermediate consumption was unchanged and its prices rose by a total 15%. Out of inputs, an increase of 1% occurred in the volume of both veterinary expenses and animal feedstuffs, chemical fertilizer and plant protection product use was reduced, and the rest of the inputs remained unchanged according to the first estimates.
