Winter domestic citrus season underway

California’s citrus domestic season is in full swing and the Bee Sweet Citrus team is happy to report the arrival of its winter citrus line.

“Winter is here and our team is thrilled to welcome back our specialty citrus varieties,” said Monique Bienvenue, Bee Sweet Citrus director of communications. “While we provide customers with mandarins, lemons and navel oranges year-round, our winter citrus line provides shoppers with the opportunity to try something new.”

Since the start of the season, Bee Sweet Citrus has added California mandarins, oranges, lemons, pummelos, grapefruit, Meyer lemons, blood oranges and Cara Cara navels to its versatile product line. All of these varieties are harvested throughout California’s Central Valley, Central Coast and Imperial Valley and are revered for their unique flavor profiles and immunity-boosting characteristics.

Bee Sweet's citrus is harvested throughout California’s Central Valley, Central Coast and Imperial Valley.

“California’s Mediterranean climate is ideal for growing citrus because the fruit is sensitive towards extreme temperatures,” said Keith Watkins, Bee Sweet Citrus vice-president of farming. “Our moderate weather allows us to harvest citrus year round and focus on specialty varieties during the winter months.”

All of Bee Sweet’s specialty varieties are available in new, high-graphic packaging and each bag and carton strategically showcases the variety’s unique characteristics.

“The winter months are a great time to promote specialty citrus because each of our available varieties have characteristics that beautifully complement seasonal promotions,” said Bienvenue. “With a product line as diverse as ours, we have something for everyone.”

Bee Sweet’s winter citrus line is grown under the close watch of the company’s farming department and meets strict quality standards to ensure consumers receive an exceptional piece of fruit.
