"Eccellenza Agroalimentare" award for Consorzio di Tutela del Pomodoro di Pachino Igp

Consorzio di Tutela del Pomodoro di Pachino Igp received the "Eccellenza Agroalimentare" (Agri-Food Excellency) award at the "2° Edizione Rassegna Giornalismo Agroalimentare e Agroindustriale Pro Sud e Orientamento Its 2021" (2nd Edition of the Pro-South Agri-food and Agri-Industiral Journalism Review and Its Orientation 2021". The initiative wanted by "Fondazione Istituto Tecnico Superiore per l'Efficienza Energetica di Reggio Calabria" took place on November 13th 2021 at "Museo del Bergamotto".

S. Fortunato, A. Alvaro

The prize awarded by Antonio Alvaro, President of Gal Batir and Flag of Stretto 2, was accepted by the president of the consortium Sebastiano Fortunato, who commented: "we are very pleased with this recognition." The plate reads "Per continuare a portare avanti, nel mondo, il pomodoro di Pachino IGP. E garantire la denominazione d'origine a dispetto delle frodi" (To continue promoting PGI tomatoes from Pachino all over the world. And guarantee the designation of origin despite the frauds)

"It has been a wonderful experience that has repaid us of the many sacrifices made day after day to maintain the high standards of a product known in most of the world. We were awarded together with other two consortia, that of potatoes from Sila and that of lemons from Sorrento. Our meeting was the perfect moment to share our experience and grow together and we hope we can do it again to collaborate and work in the interest of Italian products."

"We would like to thank all the organizers and Vittorio Caminiti, president of Accademia del Bergamotto. Bergamot oranges boast excellent organoleptic qualities and will soon obtain the PGI mark."

Plates for the consortia. Left to right: Consorzio Igp "Patata della Sila", Consorzio Igp "Limone di Sorrento" and Consorzio Igp "Pomodoro di Pachino".

"In general, the feeling I got in Reggio Calabria was one of great warmth towards us. Being considered a model is very gratifying and I would like to share the prize with every single producer, packager and all those part of our consortium, who work hard every day to support PGI tomatoes from Pachino. These recognitions also come with great responsibility, which we welcome so that the good name and great quality of our products can continue to precede us wherever our job will take us."

"This prize is the confirmation that results do come when you work well," added the consortium director Salvatore Chiaramida.
