Dutch cooperative auctioned lower volumes

The Dutch cooperative, ZON, auctioned lower volumes this year. Up to week 39, it auctioned 17% less than in the same period in 2020. So, ZON reports in its magazine. In contrast, the same period's total median price was 13% higher. Until week 39 of 2021, ZON auctioned 37% of its total volume.

This summer's auction sales results fluctuated wildly per product. The sales were highly dependent on the relevant item's market availability. For example, various tomato varieties, iceberg lettuce, and other lettuce were priced high this summer. While bell peppers, different cabbage varieties, fennel, leeks, and mini cucumbers' prices were disappointing.

Preparations for the installation of the new KOSMOS auction system are in full swing and on track. Its implementation is scheduled for early February 2022. ZON started with the phased supply of Spanish products from week 43.
