Growers baffled by theft of 205 citrus trees from South Australian orchard

A citrus grower in South Australia's Riverland is baffled by the fact that 205 trees were stolen out of the ground from his property less than a week after he planted them. Jeff Knispel grows citrus near Waikerie. He spent a full day planting new trees on Tuesday, November 2. Knispel, who is the joint managing director of the Nippy's Group, said it was on Saturday, November 6 that he noticed more than 200 trees had been ripped out of the ground and taken, almost without a trace.

According to Knispel, theft of this scale was uncommon, and there would have had to have been a level of planning to be able to take more than 200 trees from the orchard.
