Suspended in the summer of 2019, due to a lack of shipments, the rundown rolling stock and the 30% fare increase imposed by SNCF to finance its modernization, the produce train connecting Perpignan to the Rungis market will be running again on Friday, October 22nd. French prime minister Jean Castex will be there for the occasion.
The first convoy of 12 wagons will leave Perpignan around 3pm to reach the Rungis market between 3 and 4am. For this first trip, the convoy will mainly transport Spanish and Moroccan products transiting through the national interest market of Perpignan-Saint-Charles with citrus fruit, tomatoes, zucchinis and peppers.
The train will have 5 connections per week, leaving Perpignan at 4.30pm and arriving at Rungis at 3.30am. Rail Logistics Europe, the rail freight branch of SNCF, will be in charge of reviving the line.
