The second-grade cooperative made its membership official at the last edition of Fruit Attraction

Anecoop joins the United Nations Global Compact

Anecoop has joined the United Nations Global Compact as a partner, which entails a higher level of commitment in its participation within the organization. The second-degree cooperative made it official at the latest edition of Fruit Attraction and was part of the family photo of the adhering entities.

"For our cooperative group, this is a logical and necessary step in our CSR, since we are fully committed in this area. Today, all the entities that make up the value chain are aware that, in order to survive in the long term, it is essential to implement ethical and responsible measures at all stages of the process as regards people, the environment and economic development," said Anecoop's president Alejandro Monzón.

Joining the Global Compact means that Anecoop is committed to aligning its operations with Ten Universally Accepted Principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environment and anti-corruption, as well as to adopt measures in support of the objectives of the United Nations currently embodied in the Sustainable Development Goals.

Joan Mir, CEO of Anecoop, highlighted the proactive and enterprising nature of the cooperative entity in this regard. "We are an active part of numerous projects whose objectives are aligned with the requirements of the United Nations and the various administrations in the 2030 horizon. We are working on the development and implementation of increasingly efficient and low environmental impact production systems. We have our own quality system, Naturane, which guarantees good practices from seed or seedling to shipment. We promote the reduction of water consumption and the use of renewable energies. We participate in initiatives aimed at the joint management of land to avoid its abandonment, and we work on the communication of all these actions so that consumers know that their interests and concerns are also ours, and that we need the support of the whole society to continue doing our work: producing food."
