Italy's Fellini Patrizio has recently benefited from the harvest of 2000 new jujube plants. It is a seasonal crop that is in demand, very popular for its snack-like packaging, in small cups and, new for 2021, also available in trays, both of 250 grams.

The founder of the company, Patrizio Fellini, is a supporter of jujube plantings. "It is a traditional crop that we have professionalized and standardized. To obtain high quality results, a jujube grove must be managed like any other crop, i.e., with pruning, defense systems, fertirrigation and harvesting in several batches".

The 2021 production is very abundant and, since it is a rustic plant, it does not require any special defense treatments. The only organic treatments were those to control the stone fruit fly.
Fellini pointed out that the harvest must be carried out in three batches in order to be able to offer a product with a good level of sugar, hence at the right stage of ripeness.
Harvesting phase
"A few years ago, this crop caught the attention of consumers and then more and more retailers asked for it. This crop is GlobalGAP certified," said Emile and Valentina Fellini.

In many areas, jujube cultivation has long remained marginal. Fellini Patrizio decided to tackle it professionally because he believed in the crop cultivated with criteria and offered in practical packaging, ideal for snack consumption. The results proved him right, as the market has been stable for more than two months.
