In the province of Isabela, the Filipino Department of Agriculture recently inaugurated the P5.5 million (€148.500) Banana Processing facility in the town of San Agustin to help the Isabela Cacao, Coffee and Banana Farmers Associaton.
According to DA-2 Director Narciso Edillo , project will be used by the Association in boosting the processing of local products to increase their production and income. “The DA will continue providing assistance to your association particularly in the marketing of your processed products not only in the region but also in other parts of the country and even abroad.”
Acting Mayor Larry Mark Lloyd Guerrero of San Agustin town expressed his gratitude to the DA for establishing the project in the town which will surely benefit the farmers. "On behalf of the whole officialdom and populace of San Agustin, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to DA-2 for providing this facility to our farmers here,” Guerrero told pia.gov.ph.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Isabela head Winston Singun also assured their support to the operation of the project through product packaging and labelling including the marketing of processed products.
