Independent certification confirms discounter's environmental strategy

Norma first discounter to be certified as Green Brand Germany

Nuremberg food retailer Norma is the first German discounter to be awarded the Green Brand seal of approval. This guarantees controlled, ecologically sustainable quality and underlines Norma's sustainability strategy, which was confirmed with the Green Brand seal of approval in an extensive monitoring and certification procedure.

"Norma was able to demonstrate a good, transparent and effective sustainability strategy that is deeply rooted in the company and its employees. We are pleased that after the certification of our exclusive own brand BIO SONNE the entire company Norma is now also certified and thus proves that environmental and price consciousness are not mutually exclusive," says Norbert Lux, managing director of the Green Brand organisation.

Coherent concept with ambitious goals
In a comprehensive and extensive validation process, the food retailer was able to explain which steps in the areas of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), energy saving, resource management and environmental protection have already been realised and which further measures are planned. All in all, the company succeeded in clearly exceeding the required standard: "We are pleased that Green Brand has distinguished our great efforts and ambitious goals. Sustainability has always had an important place at Norma and we see this as a confirmation of the path we have taken so far, which we will continue to follow consistently," says Norma Chairman of the Board Gerd Köber.

There are many examples of the Nuremberg company's sustainability drive. For example, each product in the range is examined to see whether resources can be saved for the benefit of the environment during production, transport and packaging. This has already led to a significant reduction in plastic waste.
