Tomatoes, cherries and strawberries see large price increases

Colombian banana prices dropped by 11% this week

Last week, the price of bananas from Colombia dropped by 11 per cent, whereas banana prices from Costa Rica had their price increase by one pence.

When looking at all wholesale prices for fruits and vegetables, cherries have had the prices increased by over 50%. The same massive increase could be seen in the prices for strawberries. Both of these fruits were not even the commodity that had the largest price increase. Tomato prices in the UK have had a 85 per cent increase on average compared to the week before.
