Reemoon introduced Gulupa sorting line

"We hope to shorten the period of return on investment for our clients"

Jiangxi Reemoon Technology Holdings Co., Ltd. recently installed their first automated processing line, which is now officially in operation. Vincent Zhang, regional sales manager for Reemoon in South America, recently talked about the new processing line.

Regional Sales Manager, Vincent Zhang first introduced the new processing line: "This is a high-capacity, one-lane sorting line that can sort Gulupas and avocados. The sorting line can select on the basis of weight, size, shape, and color. All of these four functionalities can be used individually and in combination with each other when the circumstances require more careful selection. The processing line has a capacity of around 2.3 tons per hour. The processing line also has 15 exits that can sort fruit products in as many categories."

The Gulupa is a Colombian passion fruit variety that has a much more delicate skin than most other fruit varieties and more easily bruises. Reemoon implemented several protective measures in the processing line to better protect the Gulupas. "For example, we have added brushes at every exit to slow down the speed of the Gulupa as it exits the sorting line. This reduces the bruising on this delicate fruit."

"The equipment was ordered by the customer towards the end of 2020, but the processing and export season of Gulupas already begins in February. We first settled on a plan, and then mobilized the full force of our factory to finish the production in 2 weeks. The equipment was shipped in containers and arrived at its destination in February, 2021. However, the Reemoon team was unable to install the processing line in person because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead, the Reemoon after-sales service teams from China and other countries, such as South Africa, Egypt, and Chile, guided the dealer through the installation process with remote assistance and video communication. Thanks to everyone's effort, we only spent one week to complete the installation process and necessary adjustments. The equipment was in operation by mid-February, and the client was extremely happy," said manager Vincent Zhang.

"We were able to accomplish the installation at such speed, not only because everybody worked well together, but also because Reemoon equipment is transported as modules, which makes installation easy. On location the modules only need to be linked and debugged. This saves a lot of time in the installation process."

Eugenio Acevedo, General Manager of Eutech S.A.S., Reemoon's agency in Colombia, added: "This is Reemoon's first machine in Colombia. Colombia is rich in avocado and Gulupa, but most of the local packing houses are small and medium-sized, which makes them less suitable for large-scale processing equipment. Therefore, our small and cost-effective equipment can provide clients with their required sorting services at a much lower cost price."

Hugo Alejandro Jaramillo Vásquez, the owner of the packing house, introduced the procurement background and usage of the sorting equipment. "Reemoon's agent, Mr. Eugenio Acevedo, has visited us many times. He introduced Reemoon to us, and answered our questions professionally and patiently. After some comparison and investigation, we concluded that Reemoon was the most cost-effective supplier, and so finally we settled on Reemoon."

Hugo added: "We have been using the equipment for more than 4 months without any problems. We are very pleased with the effect of weight and color selection, and the production capacity of the equipment has met our requirement. Before we bought this equipment, we needed about 30 employees to perform selection, sorting, and packaging work at the same time, and we could process only about 9 tons of fruits per day. We are currently running this processing line with only 15 employees and can easily reach a processing volume of 18 tons in 8 hours. This not only improves our production efficiency, but also saves us labor costs."

"This is the peak period of the Gulupa season, and we are now using this processing line to sort Gulupas. We sometimes have orders for avocados as well. And when we need to sort avocados, the processing line only requires small and easy adjustments to switch to avocados instead. This is very convenient for a small-scale or medium-scale business like ours. We expect to see a return on our investment within a single season," said Hugo. "The automated sorting of Gulupas is an inevitable trend. Reemoon is the first manufacturing company to have come up with an automated sorting solution for this fruit. They have done so very well and with a great  result!"

"Jiangxi Reemoon Technology Holdings Co., Ltd. is a manufacturing company specialized in the research and development of smart post-harvest processing solutions for fruit and vegetables. They also provide services for fruit plantation and post-harvest services. The company invests much energy in research on automated auxiliary equipment to satisfy the diverse requirements of various clients.

"Following an increase of projects in South America, we have decided to build up a service team in the region to provide quick, on-site, post-sales services for our clients."
