Egypt set to establish €100 mln trade hub in Alexandria

The Egyptian Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade - in cooperation with French produce logistics company Rungis International - is intent on establishing a specialized zone to manage the circulation of vegetables, fruits and all other such commodities in Alexandria’s Borg El Arab. The zone will be 50 ha large; the investments needed will be around €100 million.

The cooperation will include procedures for digital transformation in Egypt’s internal trade system and streamline globalization across fields, linking merchants and outlets to each other more efficiently.

Of course, the export of produce has long been a key factor in the health of Egypt's economy and, over the last few years, there has been an increase in demand from global markets for onions, sweet potatoes, grapes and oranges.
