Northwest Region potato stocks totaled 43.7 mln hundredweight on June 1

Potato stocks in Idaho on June 1, 2021 totaled 26.0 million cwt. Disappearance of the Idaho crop to date was 109 million cwt. June 1 potato stocks in Oregon totaled 3.90 million cwt. Disappearance to date was 23.1 million cwt.

In Washington, June 1 potato stocks totaled 13.8 million cwt. Disappearance to date totaled 84.8 million cwt. Nationally, the major potato States held 65.3 million cwt in storage on June 1, 2021, up 13 percent from June 1, 2020. Potatoes in storage accounted
for 16 percent of the States' 2020 production compared with 14 percent a year earlier.

The indicated potato disappearance, at 349 million cwt, was down 5 percent from the same period last year. Season-to-date shrink and loss, at 24.0 million cwt, was 8 percent higher than the same time last year. Processors in Idaho and Malheur County, Oregon used 73.1 million cwt of potatoes for the season, up 5 percent from June
l, 2020.

In Washington and other Oregon counties, 78.1 million cwt of potatoes had been used by processors for the season, down 1 percent from the previous year. Processors in the 8 States used 187 million cwt of potatoes for the season, down slightly from June 2020.
