Joaquin Gomez Carrasco, the president of the Association of Producers and Exporters of fruits, table grapes, and other agricultural products (Apoexpa) said that the Region of Murcia has dominated the Spanish market's stone fruit harvest and export since last April, accounting for 80% of the total Spanish production. Gomez Carrasco stated this within the framework of a visit to the facilities of the fruit and vegetable company Frutas Esther, in Abaran, on Wednesday, May 19.
Gomez also said they expected the Region would export more than 220 million kilos of stone fruit this season and at least match the 2020 figures.
Of those 220 million kilos, 90 million will correspond to donut peaches, 60 million to nectarines, 40 million to apricots, and 30 million kilos to peaches. "There will be a decrease in the apricot and donut peach crops this year because the trees have produced few fruits," he added.
