Mexican grower kicks off 15th Sonoran table grape season

It’s the 3rd week of May and Divine Flavor starts receiving its first shipments of grapes- officially kicking off of their Sonoran grape program for 2021. The company anticipates packing more than five million boxes this season out of Northern Mexico, which is a volume increase of about 25 percent from last year. The company’s VP of sales, Carlos Bon, is gearing up the company for their biggest commercial volume season since its establishment in 2006.

Assisting Carlos and company into this year’s grape deal are Divine Flavor veterans Dennis Hay and Alan Morfin, sales managers, and Antonio Escobar, grape category manager. Joining the Divine Flavor sales team this season is a new member to the company, Mike Demattia, who was brought on earlier this year.

“We’re tremendously excited for this year’s grape program and I trust our team will be able to accommodate the needs of our retail partners”, said Carlos Bon. “Each sales member is a direct extension of our customers who we sell to and they are able to take into account the complexity of retail- freight, freshness, and timeliness,” he added.

“The team we have today has allowed us to take on expansion opportunities and also provide better service to our customers. We are able to offer them more volume on specialty varieties and help them promote repeat purchases.”

Entering their 15th grape season, Divine Flavor grows and imports more than 25 commercial varieties including the fan favorites such as Cotton Candy, and newer varieties like Jellyberries, a seedless purple, and Gummyberries, a seedless red grape. “Our candy line-up of table grapes are exactly what consumers want”, said Bon. “They’re packed with rich flavor and are always farmed the most healthy and sustainable way possible”.

“Over the years, we have become a major player in the category and our expansions have led to us becoming the largest grower of organic table grapes coming from Mexico.”

Other sales members assisting with the company’s grape program include Elizabeth Smart, Liz Cheang, and Luis Rodriguez.
