European potato market (week 17)

Belgium: very firm processing market

European physical markets

Price summary €/t (source: NEPG):

Belgium

Fiwap/PCA market message:

Potatoes for processing: very firm markets. Most factories are buying again, alongside the demand for export to southern Europe and England. Some operators (Belgian trade and abroad, producers) are still looking for volumes to complete their industrial contracts. Supply is low, due to the work in the fields, the low free stocks and the weather that is not favorable for the growth of early potato crops.

Bintje: no quotation due to the great variation in prices depending on use, quality, buyer...

Fontane, Challenger: 7.50 - 9.00 €/q for immediate delivery. Higher prices are also practiced for delayed delivery (May-June).

Forward market

EEX in Leipzig (€/q) Bintje, Agria and related var. for transformer, 40 mm+, min 60 % 50 mm +:

Netherlands
The markets remained positive last week and all the quotations progressed. The demand for processing from both trade and various factories is sustained by the optimism and new market perspectives related to the soon-to-reopen terraces and restaurants. The offer is not great and remains limited to the excess tons of contracts. In export, the pace is not particularly high but the usual destinations such as Spain and Portugal are presented at prices around 12.00 and 18.00 €/q, packed departure depending on caliber and variety. Some possibilities towards Romania and Ukraine at prices between 9.00 and 11.00 €/q, packed departure. No particular change to note on the domestic fresh markets.

France
