MedFEL Tuesdays - May 4th, 2021

Frost wave in European orchards: will we have summer fruit and vegetables?

In several regions of France, as well as in the north of Italy and Spain, plantations have been touched by the recent cold spell, with consequences on the harvests to come. A real challenge for the entire fruit and vegetable sector.

MedFEL has been accompanying fruit producers for over 30 years with its harvest predictions. Considering the consequences of the frost, MedFEL logically decided to change its program.

On May 4th, 11th and 25th, at 4pm, we will assess together the situation caused by the cold weather and the impacts on the European production of summer fruit and vegetables: France, Italy, Spain, Greece.

Tuesday, May 4th, at 5pm, MedFEL gives the floor to producers
The long and severe frost episode of April 2021 has had a significant impact on French agriculture, especially on arboriculture. MedFEL gives the floor to the French and European arboricultural productions affected by the frost.

The objective will be to make an initial assessment of the situation, discuss the current solutions to preserve what can be saved, and to consider the longer-term future to better protect the orchards.

National and regional representatives will be invited to join the discussion.

The debate will be moderated by Olivier Masbou, associated journalist of the Socopag news agency.
