As a meeting place for regional producers, wholesalers, importers and distribution professionals, the Market of National Interest of Marseille Méditerranée is starting an economic transformation.
Every day, or rather every night, from 3 to 8am, nearly 1,500 buyers flock to meet the 265 regional producers present all year round and the 60 wholesalers.
New projects for the MIN of Marseille which serves 3 million inhabitants
An urban solar power plant for the production of green energy, new warehouses and other facilities for companies and inhabitants, are planned for 2022. “We are going to build the largest urban solar power plant in France with the ambition of becoming energy neutral,” explains Marc Dufour, general manager of Somimar, the manager of the MIN markets of Arnavaux and Saumaty.
A training center for the fruit and vegetable sector, a market for producers and a foodtech incubator will be built on a 10,000 m² area, along with restaurants, a hotel and shopping center.
Last year already, photovoltaic panels were installed on 6,000 m², with a plan to reach up to 100,000 m².
