The Berries Galicia association was established with the aim of dignifying the quality of Galician berries

A group of Galician berry producers from the councils of A Estrada, Lalin, Silleda, Dodro, and Teo have created the Berries Galicia association with the aim of dignifying the quality of Galician berries.

“The goal is that our products, mainly strawberries and blueberries, reach the final consumer without intermediaries. We want consumers to have access to an authentic quality product at a reasonable price,” the producers stated at the press conference.

They had the idea to form the association at the end of 2019, but the pandemic delayed its launch by a year. The association is open to accept more associates. "The more producers the better," they stated. One of the goals of the association is to fight against the multinationals that have settled in Galicia and against deception in the sale of some products. "The strawberry that comes from Portugal is offered as Galician. We want to teach people how to distinguish it and we hope they opt for seasonal fruits.”

Regarding the marketing channels, they said they maintain contact with the Mercas nationwide and that they were open to everyone, always selling their products under the Berries Galicia brand.
