The current Limorè lemon campaign, brand of the Produttori di Limoni associati di Rocca Imperiale PO, is doing well and demand has grown over the weeks. PGI lemons from Rocca Imperiale, known for their organoleptic qualities, intense aroma, edible peel and high juice yield, is used in many dishes of the Italian culinary tradition.
"Harvesting should continue until May 30th - longer than usual thanks to an increase in production of 30% compared to the past year, but also to the fall-winter rain, which has meant the characteristics of the fruit will remain unaltered until the summer. The choice to employ strict internal specifications with the objective of standardizing productions, enabled a more precise planning of the harvesting, packaging and marketing phases," reports the PO almost three months after the beginning of the 2021 campaign.
"Over the past few months, many new retail channels have introduced PGI lemons from Rocca Imperiale to their selection. This means we will reach over 1,200 tons sold under the PGI mark (+120% compared 2020) despite the drop in sales in the H&R sector due to the pandemic."
"As a cooperative, we are working on two important projects - the first concerns the possibility of setting up a field to test new lemon cultivars in cooperation with various research institutes with the objective of extending the production calendar to cover the period when there is currently no produce available (June to November). The second project involves supplying all members with the tools and technological devices necessary to monitor lemon groves, the soil and agricultural and weather conditions, helping them intervene promptly when irrigation and fertilization are needed."
