According to data published on the Agrodata Perú website, in 2020 Peru exported 21,346,152 kilos of strawberries for a FOB value of 44,854,194 dollars. These figures reveal that exports increased by 36% in volume and 56% in value over the 15,661,948 kilos of strawberries that Peru exported in 2019 for $28,822,716 when strawberry shipments had also registered a notable 68% increase in volume and 72% increase in value over the previous year.
Strawberry exports have continued to increase this year. In January of 2021, Peru shipped 3,709,470 kilos of strawberries for 7,067,828 dollars, i.e. more than 135% more than in January of 2020.
The main destinations were the United States ($4,339,000), Canada ($972,000), Japan ($885,000), South Korea ($415,000) and Panama ($189,000).
The main strawberry exporters in the first month of this year were Mebol SAC with sales of 2,239,000 dollars, Mebol GF SAC with 1,702,000 dollars, Del Ande Alimentos SAC with 1,194,000 dollars, and Frozen Foods SAC with 572,000 dollars, among others.
