Especially, online home-delivery orders have increased by over 50% year-on-year. The home delivery service of many Carrefour stores in Shanghai, Nanjing, Hefei, and Wuxi has been expanded from delivering within 1 hour to addresses within 3 kilometers to delivering within 1.5 hours to addresses within 5 kilometers, greatly facilitating workers who are encouraged to stay put for the holiday this year. Prepared foods, self-heating foods, fruit, snacks, meat, eggs, and vegetables are all consumer favorites.
This year, in order to ensure supply and stabilize prices, all major supermarkets have prepared ahead of schedule. According to the manager of the Carrefour Xinzhou store in Shenzhen, most visitors of brick-and-mortar supermarkets are families, and fresh ingredients such as vegetables and meat have the highest proportion among their purchase. Others purchase includes alcohol, beverages, and imported foods.
Zhang Jindong, Chairman of Suning Group, said at the Chinese New Year group meeting that in 2021, the group will focus on main retail channels from top to bottom, further develop supply chain, full-scenario operation, customer service, and retail technology to highlight the advantages of regional management, transform from a business model to a profit model, and upgrade from being a retailer to a retail service provider.
