From February 12, data on the Beijing Cold Chain Food Traceability Platform will be expanded from imported refrigerated and frozen meats and aquatic products to all imported foods stored below or at zero degrees Celsius. In the Hema Fresh supermarkets, consumers can use WeChat to scan the tracking code and check the safety and traceability information of the product, the entry inspection and quarantine certificates, Covid test results, and disinfection certificates.
During the Spring Festival, consumers have a strong demand for imported seafood and meats. In order to reduce direct contact with the products, the supermarkets offer disposable gloves for customers to use when selecting products. Although imported fruits such as cherries were not included this time, the supermarkets will make the entry inspection and quarantine certificates and Covid test reports public.

"The newly added categories mainly include frozen products made from grains (such as quick-frozen rice and noodle products), frozen dairy products (such as butter, cheese), frozen vegetables, frozen fruits, and frozen beverages (such as ice cream or frozen juice). The data recording process of 70% of them has been completed and the whole project will be completed by February 12." Hema Fresh staff said.
"We require operators to strictly implement the main responsibilities for food traceability and the prevention and control of Covid-19, to ensure that all imported refrigerated or frozen foods they handle can be traced from February 12. We ask them to strictly abide by the management requirements of not purchasing, selling, using, transporting, or storing products without inspection quarantine certificates, Covid test reports, disinfection certificates, or traceability information, to ensure that consumers are able to buy safe and assured food," Zhang Dan, chief of the Food Distribution Department of the Market Supervision Bureau of Haidian District, said.
