The general manager of Verdeflor SAC, Eric D'Angles, announced that the company, which mainly provides maquila services to avocado agro-exporters, plans to start exporting its own production this year.
"We are going to export 150 tons of Hass avocado from our crops in the coming months, mainly to China, France, Spain, and the Netherlands. 70% of our production will go to the Asian market," he stated.
The company's goal is to export nearly 500 tons of Hass avocado by 2022 and 1,500 tons by 2023. To do this, they plan to have 500 hectares planted in 2022. Currently, they have nearly 100 hectares in Viru (La Libertad) and will add 70 more hectares this year.
In addition, the company is considering venturing into the sowing and export of blueberries. "Cultivating this fruit requires a lot of labor, so we are waiting to see what happens with the regulation of the new Agrarian Law. The idea is to start planting in 2022 and export blueberries in 2023 to Europe, the United States, and China," he added.
