This series gives the average wholesale prices of bananas by country of origin. The prices are national averages of the most usual prices charged for bananas at wholesale markets in Birmingham and London. This publication is updated weekly.
All prices are in pounds (£) per kg.
The current average week prices of bananas were at £0.86 for bananas from Belize, a 30% rise as compared to last week, when they sold for £0.66. The same fruit from Costa Rica sold for £0.87 (up 24%), while bananas from Ivory Coast cost £0.73 this week, up 7% from last week's £0.68 / kg.
