Price remains stable

Import volume of Australian nectarines on the Chinese market is somewhat limited

The import season of Australian nectarines officially started several months ago and has proceeded in relative stability. The overall product quality is alright and there have been no major problems. There is a large variety of Australian nectarines, which can generally divided into yellow nectarines and white nectarines based on the color of their fruit flesh. Different nectarine varieties each have their own production season and enter the market accordingly. As for the size of nectarines this year, the early-season nectarines were somewhat smaller than usual, but the average size increased as the season progressed.

The price of imported Australian nectarines is higher than the price of domestic nectarines, but so is the product quality. This suits the demand from Chinese consumers who are looking for top-quality fruit. Every year, when the domestic production season comes to an end, imported nectarines from Australia and Chile take over the market. Australian nectarines arrive earlier and their plantation technology is superior, but Chilean nectarines arrive in larger volumes with lower prices than Australian nectarines.

Australian nectarines

The purchase price of Australian nectarines is more reasonable than last year. Many clients are looking for the right flavor. That is why they pay this much attention to the first nectarines on the market. They search for a great flavor experience. "The price of nectarines is stable for now. The flavor is not bad at all, but the supply volume is limited. Market demand still exceeds supply. The main difference with previous years is the rising shipping cost as well as additional distribution costs as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic." This is according to Ma Wenwei, CEO of Shun De Feng Fruit (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

According to Mr. Ma, "we sell our nectarines through a variety of retail channels under the brands MF and DoW. Our imported nectarines are available in wholesale markets, through retailers, and in online shops. We sell our nectarines throughout China. We are still quite optimistic about this sales season. No matter the circumstances, top-quality fruit will always sell."
