Fiwap/PCA market message:
Potatoes for processing: the first contracts 2021-2022 are out. As expected, prices are down, but at first glance, less than expected. Increases at the very end of the season are small. Moreover, some buyers have indicated that they are buying at prices around 5.00 €/q or more for large volumes. This happened again on Monday, January 4th and later on the same week. Sustained markets and some manufacturers are buying. Others only take their contracts, and sometimes the excess tons at low prices.
Bintje: between 2.00 and 3.00 €/q for the normal qualities/excess tons. From 5 to 6.00 €/q for the best quality (length, caliber, regularity, baking colors).
Fontane, Challenger: around 5.00 €/q. For the large volumes (1,000t and more) and exceptionally, 6.00 €/q. Sustained market.
Bintje plant: little trade, but growing interest from the buyers. Small calibers are rare. Sustained market. Dutch/French/Belgian plant, class A, returned March 2021, by 10 tons, in big-bags, excl. VAT:
Caliber 28-35 mm: 67.00 - 69.00 €/q
Caliber 35-45 mm: 42.00 - 45.00 €/q

Industry: RNM commentary: “Factories have resumed their activities after the annual closure for the holidays. A few transactions at higher prices observed at the end of the year but the volumes remain very limited in a context where the offer is sometimes lacking for some contracted varieties.”

Fresh market (early and semi-early): prices unchanged for firm flesh: 10.83 €/q (10.83 €/q, before last quotation), and also unchanged for soft/mealy flesh: 10.25 €/q (10.17 €/q, before last quotation).
Processing market: stable and unchanged market. Factories prioritize their contracts. Prices: 3.50 €/q for Innovator/Agria, and prices also unchanged for Challenger/Fontane at 3.00 €/q. Firm prices for the varieties chips/crisps. Between 5 and 8.00 €/q.
Organic potatoes: producer prices are unchanged, around 41.00 €/q (all varieties and markets combined), returned trade.
