Patrick Stoffels worked for different fruit and vegetable trading companies for years. He's now started his own business - Stoffels Foods. "A long-held dream has now come true. The coronavirus pandemic did provide the necessary challenges. There's not been a trade shortage. But there are also plenty of opportunities. I'm focusing on an extensive product range, Although, for the past two months, this has been mainly on exotics. My clientele consists mainly of wholesalers and exporters in the Netherlands."
When asked how he intends to distinguish himself on the market, Patrick answers, "I've built up a broad network over the past few years. So, I can often get hold of products, even if there's a shortage on the market. But I can also often supply products that are less in demand now."
"My motto has always been "Always try to help others, even if you can't help yourself. In the future, these people will help you in return." And that definitely seems to work. The relationships I've built with clients and suppliers have stood me in good stead. After I left my previous job, many of these people approached me about working together."
Where will Stoffels Foods be in five years? "I haven't thought about that yet," laughs Patrick. "But I'd prefer to continue working the way I am now. When COVID-19 is over, I want to consider a fixed basic range. Traders who have a bit of a surplus or have products they can't seem to sell are welcome to contact me. I'll always try to find the right solution," he concludes.
