"We want to treat high-quality potatoes as if they were cookies, and that's why they are packed in beautiful cardboard boxes that are also appealing to the eye," said Matteo Zanarini, speaking of the new 4kg bags that contain purple, red and yellow potatoes.
Red and purple potatoes
"The red and purple colors refer to both the skin and the flesh of the potato. I run the third generation family business, after my grandfather Antonio and father Danilo. I follow the teachings of my father, who had a very broad and modern vision of the potato and onion sectors," said Zanarini.
Colored potatoes
The packages contain two types of potatoes of the buyer's choice, yellow and purple or yellow and red. The project has been developed in collaboration with Futuragri, a company that focuses on innovations in the potato sector (see FreshPlaza on 09/23/2020). "With Giampiero Valdinici, the owner of Futuragri, we started a cooperation for the cultivation and packaging and this is the result".

Zanarini's Filiera Verde line offers cultivation techniques with low environmental impact, less crop impact, and has certifications recognized at European and global scale. The potatoes are packed by hand and are carefully selected.

"We offer this packaging on wholesale markets, but we think there will be room in the future to sell it through multiple channels. Our potato varieties have a solid structure and are ideal for baking. Some chefs have added them to their menu as mixed, baked potatoes, because they look different and very attractive," said Zanarini.
