Fruit Logistica 2021:

Swiss associations forgo participation

Because  the international trade fair Fruit Logistica 2021 will not be held in February 2021 due to the Corona situation, Messe Berlin is now planning an alternative event for mid-May 2021, on a much smaller scale.

The associations of the Swiss fruit, vegetable and potato sector have been represented at Fruit Logistica for more than 20 years. The "Swiss stand" in Hall 20 is not only a very popular meeting place for trade fair visitors from Switzerland, but for international visitors, guests and business partners from the trade as well. Always popular for networking is the very well-attended, traditional "Swiss Apéro".

The great atmosphere at the Swiss stand during Fruit Logistica 2020

"For understandable reasons, our concept cannot be implemented in May 2021 in this way. Furthermore, in many regions the harvests will start in May, which means that retailers and producers will already be working on full tilt. For these reasons, a significantly lower number of visitors must be expected. The responsible committees from SWISSCOFEL, VSGP, SOV and SWISSPATAT have therefore unanimously decided to forgo their participation in the "alternative Fruit Logistica" in May 21", a joint statement says.

At the same time, however, the Swiss associations have declared their intent to be present again at the largest international trade fair in February 2022. Preparations for this have already begun.
