New season for CRIMSON SNOW® underway

After a very successful season in 2019, with more than 12.000tons of branded apples sold in Europe, the club doubles up with a harvest of 24.000tons and intensifies its efforts to increase quality, both for producers and consumers, pushing hard for sustainability and launching the new refreshed layout.

Producers are busy picking in Europe:
In Italy at the Piedmontese companies Rivoira and Sanifrutta, in South Tyrol at VOG and Gebrüder Clementi as well as at Boi Meran with its biodynamic fruits. Also in Switzerland at Iseppi, in  France at MesfruitsS and in Serbia at Verda Vivo / Agrounija.

"It is essential for us to pick attractive purple red apples with perfect inner quality, that means crunchiness, good sugars and ripe aromas“, explains Luis Clementi, chief technician at company Gebrüder
Clementi. "That´s the reason why we educate our producers, we share our experiences. We motivate them  to wait for the harvest, possibly until November, as fruit picked later in the season is simply perfect off the tree, ready to be shipped to consumers“.

"We've already started sending apples to Esselunga, our most important customer in Italy,“ according to Marco Rivoira of Rivoira company. "Esselunga loves this apple for its appearance and taste, good shelf-life and no bruising. SNOW, as we love to call it, has an incredibly long storage life, which enables 12 months sales, and therefore no imports in the off-season are needed. CRIMSON SNOW® is therefore a sustainable brand. Also because the majority of apples are produced in Italy, and therefore it is only a short way to Italian shelves.“

Jürgen Braun, CEO of KIKU company, holder of global trademark rights, explains in detail: "We always motivate our partners to live sustainability in their company, to respect nature and humans. The variety mc38 is very robust, and allows responsible farming. We have additionally created new packaging with degradable materials, paper and cardboard as we all have the dream and the vision of #noPlastic."

Packaging and new layout

Klaus Hölzl, chief salesman at VOG, about sales: "For us it is the first sales year with a critical volume, but the entry into the club was very smooth, as other partners did a great job in the past. Now it´s about maintaining and expanding our customer network in Germany, Italy and Spain, as well as building new markets. We like the Club, a group of heavyweights with a clear plan. The planting program of 700 hectares is mostly done, therefore the Club will increase in importance even more. The supermarkets and the consumers like CRIMSON SNOW®, and the positioning is also very clear.“
