The Chilean cherry export season is in full swing. China is the largest importer of Chilean cherries, and has been for years. Chilean cherries are as popular as ever in the Chinese market. Furthermore, the production volume of Chilean cherries is huge this year, and although the Covid-19 pandemic has reduced consumer power, the Chilean cherries still sell well.
"In all honesty, no matter the circumstances, top-quality products will always suffer less from market fluctuations. Chilean cherries are a good example. These cherries have only grown more popular in recent years. Furthermore, earlier this year the Chinese import volume of cherries from the USA and Canada was smaller than usual because of political issues between the countries, which left importers no choice but to wait for the arrival of Chilean cherries." This is according to Mr. Liu Wenpo, chairman of Beijing Runfuyuan Trade Co., Ltd.
When asked about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on Chilean cherry export later this season, Mr. Liu replied: "The pandemic will certainly bring challenges to every aspect of the cherry trade, including obstacles to distribution and labor shortages. However, I do not believe this will significantly impact the Chilean cherry export. The risk in this industry is limited. In the end, Chinese consumers love Chilean cherries and trust their product quality."
