David Archer, of Condifresh:

"We are the first in France to offer onions, garlic and shallots with the Fair Trade label"

For Condifresh, the year 2020 will be marked by two great innovations. Starting this week, a range of French condiments with the Agri-Ethique France label will be launched commercially. "Fair trade does not only concern the southern hemisphere, but also the north. Condichef is always committed to fair trade.

"We are more frequently in contact with our producers, which is fine, but it is better to certify. For this reason, we have decided to label our products. We are the first producers to offer a range of condiments with the Agri-Ethique France label. This label guarantees a fair remuneration to our producers, giving them visibility for very long thanks to contracts that remain in force for a minimum of 3 years. This label also entails the use of responsible and sustainable social and environmental practices, such as the planting of hedges between our plots, the development of mechanical binning, etc., combined with our vision of agroecology," says David Archer, of Condifresh.

"Our plastic-free packaging will soon be available"

Besides the introduction of this label, Condifresh will sell its range of organic condiments in plastic-free packaging from now until the end of the year. "We are working hard in the research and development of recyclable and environmentally-friendly packaging. The idea was to start offering condiments in wood cellulose and kraft paper bags with an opening through our Condichef bio range. We want to extend the use of recyclable and environmentally-friendly packaging to all of our products."

"These 100% paper containers have many advantages"
According to the category director, this kind of packaging has many advantages. "With the health crisis we are going through, we see that plastic is returning to the supermarket shelves with force. It is a need for safety on the part of the consumer. However, the desire to buy products while being respectful to the environment is always present. Our other kraft paper packaging meets this double requirement: it protects the product at the point of sale, but it's also environmentally-friendly. The kraft bag brings other advantages, such as more display space, which allows us to better present our products. On the shelf, it is visually attractive and stands out for its innovative appearance, which helps in the purchase decision. Moreover, it contributes largely to keeping the shelves clean and neat, like at home."

The kraft paper bag will be available for the 1 kg and 500 gram (onions) and the 250 gram (shallot and garlic) formats starting from December.
