According to an update, posted by the Agriculture and Food Ministry, Belarusian agricultural workers just need to clear the remaining 2.2% of potatoes and 22.6% of other vegetables.
As of 22 October, potatoes had been harvested from 24,500 hectares or 97.8% of the acreage. Some 698,400 tonnes of potatoes were cleared ( at a yield of 284.5 centners per hectare). As far as other vegetables are concerned, 106,400 tonnes of vegetables were harvested on the area of 4,640 hectares (77.4% of the plan). The yield was 229.1 centners per hectare.
Maize was harvested on the area of 935,400 hectares, or 76.7% of the plan. Belarus harvested 865,000 hectares of maize for silage and fodder (86% of the plan) and gathered 20.514 million tonnes of grass feed with the yield at 237.2 centners per hectare.
