Netherlands: "Cooperation DOOR" to continue as "Growers United"

As of October 15, cooperation DOOR will continue under the name Growers United. During an online meeting, the new name and the new story was presented to the members and the employees. Chairman Jack Groenewegen, said proudly: "The new name seamlessly fits our strategy of doing business together. That is the power of the cooperation founded in 2013."

The direct cause for the new name is a new strategy in which healthy fruiting vegetables from an honest source are central. General director Jan Opschoor: "Our strategy must add value for our members and contribute to a strong position for our growers. That is what it is all about."

Consumer central
Commercial director Perry Dekkers adds: "We put the consumer central in our new strategy. That is also what we want to exhibit with our new story and our promise: good food in good hands. Growers United is a cooperation of family companies with years of experience and really skilled people. Together with our clients, we want to entice as many customers as possible to enjoy healthy, reliable and tasty fruiting vegetables of top quality at multiple moments per day. Directly from the source and cultivated sustainably."

Joint packing center
The new name will soon be on the façade of the new packing center, which is joint property of the members. The brands Prominent, Purple Pride, SweetPoint, Green Diamonds and PapriCo increasingly join forces, such as joint packing.

The new construction along the A20 in Maasdijk will be commissioned by the first employees. Step by step, the customized packing and distributing of tomatoes, eggplants, pointed sweet pepper and cucumbers will take place under the new roof.

Growers United will keep on packing bell peppers of PapriCo in Noord-Holland and the activities at the Scheeweg in De Lier will move, step by step, to the new building in Maasdijk in the coming years.

The figures and facts
With 5 brands, more than 40 family companies, around 600 hectares of greenhouses and over 400 million turnover, Growers United is one of the bigger players in cultivation, packing and selling of greenhouse vegetables in Europe. The cooperation supports the growers not only with the sales and marketing, but also by providing guidance with quality care, certification in food safety or by making the cultivation sustainable. They also invest in the future by attracting specialists in the fields of data analysis, innovation management and internationalisation.
