China is one of the largest sweet potato producers and exporters and China exports sweet potatoes to a growing variety of export markets. However, buyers in different markets have specific requirements for Chinese sweet potatoes. European importers, for example, have a preference for large, saffron-colored sweet potatoes, and red sweet potatoes in the weight ranges of 300-450 gr, and 450-600 gr, as well as the smaller purple sweet potato in the weight range of 150-300 gr. Asian consumers, however, prefers small to medium-sized sweet potatoes between 150-350 gr, whether they are red or purple. In addition, Asian consumers also enjoy saffron-colored sweet potatoes.

"Our purple and red sweet potatoes all come from our company farm in Shandong. We selected a sandstone area for our farm because this type of soil drains very well, even when the rainfall is excessive. This is an important quality for the growth of sweet potatoes. "We have exported large volumes of sweet potatoes to such European markets as the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Belgium since 2014. We also export sweet potatoes to Thailand and Singapore. We dispatched a shipment of purple sweet potatoes to Belgium on the 1st of October. Some of those sweet potatoes will be transported to Belgian supermarkets and wholesale markets upon arrival, while some of them are transshipped to other European countries."

In addition to fresh sweet potatoes, Hongshu Agricultural Science and Technology also exports quick-frozen, roasted sweet potato products. The company mainly exports these products to Korea, Japan, and the USA. At the same time, the company also supplies domestic convenience stores such as Family Mart, Lawson, and 7-11. Most of the products exported by Hongshu Agricultural Science and Technology are sold under client brands and packaged by clients. The sizes fall in different ranges: 150-300 gr, 300-450 gr, 450-600 gr, as well as larger bags of 6kg and 10kg.
