France: the demand for export is very low

European physical markets

Price summary €/t (source: NEPG):

Belgium

Fiwap/PCA market message:

Processed potatoes: situation unchanged. Virtually no free transaction, except for some limited volumes from the contracted excess tons of early and semi-early varieties. Some transactions for livestock feed as well. Supply remains real to free the plots.

Early Belgian potatoes: 1.00 to 2.00 €/q.

Forward market

EEX in Leipzig (€/q) Bintje, Agria and related var. for processing, 40 mm+, min 60% 50 mm+:

France
Almost no free trade for the industry. The excess tons are bought at 2.00 €/q. The demand for export is also very low.

Second reference sample UNPT/CNIPT/Chamber of Agriculture: the 240 plots sampled in weeks 31 and 32 show an average yield very similar to the average of the last 10 years, and a 6.3% increase compared to the average of the last 5 years. The yield has increased from 5 to 6 t/ha in 2 weeks and is now quite homogeneous depending on the outputs and varieties. The average is 35.1 t/ha for all plots and all varieties, varying from 13.3 to 67.0 t/ha! Irrigation brings another 9 t/ha. The plots are quite advanced physiologically, and the heatwave has accelerated the senescence.

Netherlands
Still no free trade at the moment. The buyers show practically no interest in the excess tons besides the contracted volumes. Supply is increasing and export is characterised as calm with some limited volumes to Africa and the Caribbean on the basis of 15.00 to 17.00 €/q (calibrated, sorted, packaged for departure). The exporters are waiting for the Senegalese borders to open. The fresh domestic markets are going very well. The industry is retrieving its contracts for early potatoes without buying anything on the free market.

In the fields, the rains have been very irregular in the past 2 weeks, usually varying from 0 to 30mm, with some pockets of 30 to 60 mm in the center of the country mostly.
