The Colombian port of Santa Marta has made its first shipment of Hass avocado to the US. The shipment was made up of a 1 FEU container loaded with 1,920 boxes of this fruit and it is headed to Miami, according to El Informador.
The Port of Santa Marta's infrastructure has allowed it to establish itself as a leader in handling cargo in refrigerated containers. This contributes to lower costs, simplify export processes, and boost the national economy.
The avocado was exported by the Kint Fruits Company SAS and the container was loaded by four of the port's operators who made use of the port's logistics and infrastructure to optimize the operation.
The container was shipped aboard a Seaboard ship that offers direct transit between Santa Marta and Miami.
