Event took place on the 1st of July

Seminis Melon event can also be experienced virtually

The Seminis melon team have prepared facilities so that people can attend the Melon event virtually, on top of the normal face-to-face meetings that took place on the 1st of July.

During the day, we've organized personalized webinars but also we  also have live broadcasting of internal interviews with members of Bayer Research, Sales, Marketing, Development, Supply and Trade partnerships. Recipes were also shared during this broadcast, as well as the opinions of consumers and a digital visit to the Kernel Export Production Company and The Greenery marketer, who will explain their way of working inside the import department - Import-Export. To join the show, click here.

In the Seminis digital melon and watermelon catalog, with a clear focus on retail, importer and exporter, Jose Guirado (Melon Market Development) explains the multiple varieties that Seminis has commercialized, the regular segments Galia, Piel de Sapo, Amarillo, Cantaloupe, but also in the specialty segment, like Orange Candy.

The focus of our newest varieties is the development of excellent tasting varieties with improved shelf life and quality.

Thanks to the complete resistance packages we reduce the risk of visual damage on the fruit in combination with use of biologicals like Serenade.

Some of new varieties in this edition were:

Albizu for use under plastic in Almería and for early productions in Murcia. It preserves the traditional flavor of Galia and contributes earliness and resistance to race 3.5 of powdery mildew, aphids and CYSDV -yellowing virus.

Galvir, for later usage in Murcia and Castilla-La Mancha, with similar characteristics, which also has the added value of having more resistances as already mentioned of Albizu (WMV, watermelon mosaic virus and ZYMV mosaic virus of the zucchini), as well as offering a solution to the challenges of virosis (WMV).
