Taking care of the soil makes a real difference when growing vegetables

"Our company is located in the Pachino area (SR) and covers around 20 hectares of our own and partner greenhouses. We are growing and we focus on a high quality standard," reports Santo Zara, administrator of Cuore Verde, a company boasting years of experience in the production and commercialization of fresh produce.

Santo Zara

"Our produce is the fruit of careful management along the entire chain, with strict checks to safeguard final consumers. We supply produce with a high profile characterized by excellent appearance and value."

The productions
"Of course, being in the Pachino area, we could not but specialize in the production of table tomatoes - cherry, date, green ribbed, round smooth and beefsteak tomatoes. However, netted melons, early table grapes and zucchini also grow exceptionally well here. Last year (2019), we grew and handled around 200 tons of produce."

"We are particularly careful about preserving soil fertility by preferring organic fertilizers and mineral salts. When it comes to flower pollination, we use pollinator insects or manual blowers to lift the pollen in greenhouses. To avoid soil disease and parasites, we rotate the crops and take advantage of the positive effects of crop associations."

"Then there are also natural antagonists and anti-insect nets. What is more, to control weeds, we perform manual weeding and use mulching films that hinder weed development while at the same time keeping the soil moist."

The company holds the GlobalGAP and GRASP certifications, and the produce is sold to domestic and foreign retail chains mainly in Germany, France, the Netherlands and Belgium.
