Washington State Potato Commission

Washington growers give away 1 million pounds of potatoes

The Washington State Commission says on its Facebook channel that it is excited to announce that the Washington State potato growers will reach their mission to get 1 million pounds of potatoes that were scheduled to be processed to those in need on June 2 at 11am.

The Commission post reads: “On the 2nd we will have 100,000 pounds of processing potatoes to feed those need in the Olympia and surrounding areas. The Washington State Potato Commission has partnered with Freightliner Northwest and local volunteers to make this possible.”

“Potatoes will be bagged and can be loaded directly into your vehicles. Food banks can also make arrangements with the Potato Commission to pick up a pallet for their local locations by calling 509-765-8845 or emailing All potatoes will be first come first serve.”

“The Washington State Potato Commission thanks all those who have helped out along this journey to 1 million pound. The volunteers, those who donated there space, their time, the donations to the GoFundMe account, the food banks that made the trips to pick up pallets of potatoes. And to our growers, who have donated their potatoes to help those in need during this unprecedented time. It’s times like these we all need to come together to help your neighbor. We have all seen what amazing hearts people have and it has been a humbling experience for all of us involved.”
