IG International Pvt. Ltd. enters global blueberry market

Fresh fruits importer IG International Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with MBO & Mano Babiolakis and under the supervision of an Australian team, harvested the first large scale blueberry crop in India.

This first of its kind joint venture was initiated in 2017 with the thought of producing finest blueberries for Indian Consumers on Indian soil. The venture can prove to be revolutionary in the field of fresh produce imports.

This is the first huge-scale project for Blueberries in India. After facing relentless challenges by the Indian climate for 3 years and a lot of consistent hard work, the first crop has been successfully harvested.

The harvest period is from February to May. This strategic window is expected to hit good markets worldwide as Chile is just finishing and the Northern Hemisphere is just starting so there is not much production during this period.

The sweet and crunchy 20mm berries being grown are exclusive to IG Berries. Owing to its many health benefits such as prevention of cardiac ailments, maintenance of brain function, reduction in muscle damage, lowering of Blood Pressure, protection from cholesterol, combat with UTIs and anti-diabetic effects, it has been labelled a 'superfood' and the 'king of antioxidant fruits'.

It is very low on calories and has a rich nutritional value, which is the primary reason for its rise in consumption and subsequent sales by the urban metro population. The fruit is tasty and super convenient to eat thus making it suitable for every palate and preference.

IGIPL Director, Mr. Tarun Arora told the media that “the quality, pricing and viability of berries is unmatched and we are confident about competing with the global berry world to secure our position in Asia’s top five berry producers by 2024”.

With fresh produce procurement spanning 22 countries, handling capacities of over 32 varieties of fruits and having delivered high-quality natural products to miscellaneous taste buds of the Indian market, IGIPL has proved its mettle by being India's one of the largest fresh produce importers here.
